“Spider Lily” the Most Attractive and Dangerous Flower in the Planet. If you are a flower enthusiastic or have watched enough anime then there’s a fair chance that you know about “Red Spider Lilly”.

Red spider lilies has an alluring beauty that attracts people’s attraction. Their coral red hue lights up any place such as house, gardens, fields, and riverbanks during their blooming season.

The most common type of red spider lily is red but there are also different shades of this flower. Such as,

The fragile Petals of this flower is curled inwards. The color of the petal is coral red and a lot vibrant. The stamens of this flower looks a lot like spider’s legs as it is long and wiry giving the flower a deadly pretty look .

Although the red spider lily flowers look overwhelming because of the electric red shade of it but the fragrance that comes from the flower is quiet different. The smell of this flower isn’t either overpowering or overwhelming. In fact ,the fragrance of this flower is sweet.

Red spider lily has verities of names because of it’s different characteristics and beauty. It is known as Naked Lilly. The reason behind the red spider lily getting the name naked Lilly is because it shows before the green leaves establishes around the rest of the world.

The red spider lily is also known as resurrection lilly or hurricane lily because this plant blooms after the heavy rain in late summer.

The red spider lillies are a part of the  Amaryllis plant family. The scientific name of the red spider lilly flower is Lycoris Radiata .

The red spider lilly is divided into two species. The first one is Lycoris radiata var radiata  and the other one is Lycoris radiata var pumila .

The Lycoris radiata var radiata is a sterile variant that cannot reproduce. The Lycoris radiata var radiata cannot reproduce , so they may focus on creating a beautiful flower . It is most commonly neutralized in non native areas .

  The Lycoris radiata var pumila is a very rare type of flower that can only be propagated through seed production. It’s flower is small and not showy .

Red spider lilies blossom in late summer through fall around mid September to early October. Though they begin blooming after the first heavy rain of late summer or early autumn.

Red spider lilies are mostly common in china , Japan and Korea. These flower is native to Asia. 

The red spider lilies are usually planted around padded rice paddies to keep the pest away. They can also be planted in gardens or vegetable gardens to keep the pest away. They also attract

The red spider lilies are used to keep the pest away because it is poisonous if it’s ingested. If it’s eaten then diarrhea, vomiting and if your unlucky then death. Yes, it can cause death if you eat it. It can cause serval major health problems.

The red spider lily was first introduced to Europe and North America in the 1800’s.

The red spider lily looks really beautiful when they grow up in group. A group of red spider lilies are a sight to see. Red spider lily plants can produce 6 to 8 bulbs of flowers. Red spider lily can grow up to 18 inches max.

Although the red spider lily is really attractive and pretty but the meaning of the flower is not so much pretty.  The red spider lilly has 1,000 names in Japan. The spider lily plant symbolizes many different meaning but all of them associates with death, funeral and afterlife.

Higanbana which is one of the Japanese names of red spider lily means flowers from the other side. It is a buddhist belief that when a soul dies it goes through a purgatory-like state after death.

The red spider lily is also known as “abandoned child flower .” It’s because of a Japanese legend about how a young mother died during childbirth. After her death, her soul transformed into a red spider lily and now she blooms near the graves of abandoned children.

Manjusha is another one of the name of the red spider lilly. Manjushage means “flower of heaven. ” According to one Buddhist text ” Manjushagi -No- Kami ” a female deity causes red flowers will fall from the heaven of an upcoming celebratory occasion.
